Oceanic
Art Oceanic art challenges a whole range of Western expectations. The term Oceanic art covers all of the Pacific culture. This makes a definition more complex which means that a distinction is made between the Island of New Guinea and the rest of Ocenaia. It was only in the beginning of the 20th century the Oceanic art began to make its distinctive impact. After Gauguin had gone to Tahiti, Oceanic forms opened new horizons for him and later on for many other european artists. Our objects:
