Japanese Art

Japanese antiques such as armours, swords, mounts, guns, wood prints and objets d´art have received great admiration over the years. It must be remembered that Old Japan was more or less closed for many centuries.

First in 1868 the Western World was almost taken by surprise when the Japanese works of art were presented for Western collectors. The history of Japan is divided into different Periods. From earliest times, the blend of differing cultural styles is evident. The craftman or the artist and their materials, iron, bronze, clay, wood and paper, together create the work.
